Put your care in our hands...
Keri King, owner of Branson West Therapeutic Massage, has been a health care provider for over 30 years. Starting in Critical Care as a Registered Nurse, Keri learned the intricacies of the human body first hand. As her life and the health care system changed she sought other outlets for her nursing education and her desire to assist others. Her own experiences receiving bodywork led her to explore possibilities in complimentary health care and ultimately to massage therapy school.
“People ask me why I left nursing. They don’t know that massage therapy is considered a nursing specialty. I tell them that I get to do the best of “hands on” nursing, literally, which is a rare treat in the traditional health care setting. My nursing background gives me a depth of understanding of health issues that a lot of massage therapists don’t have. I get to help people understand how they can better care for themselves.”
Keri asserts that bodywork is not a luxury but an important form of health care. Many people don’t understand that the benefits of massage go far beyond the hour they spend on the table.
Keri also loves to teach and her nursing has always included teaching classes in some form. As a massage therapist she has spoken to numerous groups regarding the benefits of therapeutic massage and has drawn from her nursing background to teach anatomy and physiology and other health care related issues in Massage Therapy schools in Florida and Missouri. She is currently on the board of the Missouri chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association.
